The integration of ERP and an MES makes possible production planning, warehouse management and product traceability

Baxi S.p.A. is the Italian brand of BDR Thermea, the world-leading Dutch holding company, manufacturer and distributor of innovative systems and services for heating and hot water production. The Group employs approximately 6,400 people throughout Europe, with a total annual turnover of 1.8 billion euros. Baxi designs and manufactures high-tech boilers and heating systems. Baxi's core business is based on water heating systems with a wide range of heating products that can adapt to the needs of the many markets it serves. In its Italian factory, Baxi boasts a daily production capacity of 3,500 pieces over two shifts: one boiler every 3 minutes, thanks to the work of roughly 850 employees.

The challenge

Needs

In order to improve production process monitoring and cost control, while ensuring the traceability of the boilers supplied to the market, Baxi replaced its previous Manufacturing Execution System (MES) with the new NET@PRO MES, developed and implemented by Qualitas Informatica. The aim of the new system is to support the production cycle, from the moment an order is launched to the collection of data along the production lines and finally to the depositing of the finished boilers in the warehouse.

The project

Benefits

Thanks to the new MES and to integration with the company ERP, the data collected during the production process is available in real time and provides management with feedback that is essential to production planning, warehouse management and financial planning of working capital.
